Circumcision, Hajj, and Marriage

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Asslama-lekum I recentlty got married to a muslim person, and i never knew he has not been circumcitsed, i dont even know if the Azaan was read to him when he was born. When i ask my mother in law she said i never knew what it was called thats why i never had it done. I believe that its a lame excuse. Is my marriage halal or haraam. My husband said he has done haj, is that valid? My husband has no interest in having a circumcision done. I believe he is only pretending to be a muslim, he does’nt preach. Please advise.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. While circumcision is an incumbent religious duty in Islam, it is not a condition for being a Muslim. Given that, it doesn’t affect the validity of his prayer, or your marriage.

May Allah grant you ease and facilitation in your marriage. In terms of your marriage-situation, please consult someone local, insha’Allah.

And Allah alone gives success.
