Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have trouble holding my wind. Can I pass wind when reciting the Qur’an (without actually touching it)?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaikum,

The question was posed to Shaykh Ali Jumu`a, a pious Shafi`i scholar who is currently the Mufti of Egypt, in a public dars.. He responded that Imam Zarkashi mentioned that in such a situation one should cease to recite when passing the wind, and continue after it passes.

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani.
