Permissability of donating haram materials to non-muslims

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Ustadha Shaista Maqbool

Can one donate, to a non-muslim charity, items made from haram materials? There is a risk that an undiscerning muslim might purchase the item. In my case I have a pair of shoes with pigskin lining. Should I donate or dispose?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Kind, Most Merciful.

No, it would not be permissible to give away items made from haram materials such as pigskin, even to non-Muslims. Anything which is impermissible to own or use, it is impermissible to donate. [Ibn Abideen, Radd al-Muhtar] Rather, it should be disposed of.

Wasalaam,
