Gold Watches

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

For watches that are not of real gold, but look like it because of gold plating/colour, is it also recommended to avoid because of resemblance to real gold?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

It is better, though not strictly speaking necessary, to avoid such watches, because of the fiqhi principle that, “Something close to another takes of its ruling,” and the general recommendation to avoid doubtful matters.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani.
