Developing websites that sell audio devices

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I am in the web design business and I wanted to ask if its is Halal for me to build a website for my client who intends selling audio devices such as CD players for cars, and mobile phones and accessories?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, with blessings and peace on the Messenger of Allah

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

The general principle in the Hanafi school is that it is permitted to sell something which can be used in a halal manner in its primary use. After this, if the item is used in an unlawful manner, it is the responsibility of the one who uses it in this manner–not the seller.

For details, search the SunniPath QA (http://qa.sunnipath.com) for: “assisting in sin.”

And Allah alone gives success.
