A lot of people say when departing from each other, “Make Dua for me” and in my opinion this has become a custom. The person who acknowledges the request usually says, “Insha-Allah” but this has also become the Custom.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Wa alaikum salaam wa rahmatullah,

There is a difference between having a firm intention to do something, while being aware of the possibility of forgetfulness and not intending at all. The use of “insha Allah” in the first instance is perfectly fine. This will not be considered deception. Nevertheless, one should immediately follow up such requests with a prayer, and also strive to pray for them individually.

And Allah alone gives success.
