A Man bought a taxi last year, and has a driver driving it for him, who shares the income with him. Does the man have to pay Zakat on the Taxi?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his folk, companions, and followers

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

No, zakat would simply be due on the income of the taxi, with one’s other zakatable wealth. [As understood from Haskafi’s Durr al-Mukhtar]

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
