Purchasing an item with human hair as an ingredient

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

asalaamu alaykum,

I was interested in purchasing a product in which one of the ingredients is human hair keratin. Is it permissible to use?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

It is not permitted to use any part of a human in products, because of the inviolability of the human body. [ Haskafi, al-Durr al-Mukhtar ]

Thus, if the ingredient you mention is known to be from a human source, it would appear to be impermissible to use.

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
