Is Marrying for Sex and Divorcing a Sin?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a man and a woman plan to get married just to satisfy their sexual need. Further more they have decided to get separated by by divorce afterwards. Are they committing a sin?

Bismillaah

A: If they mutually agree on a stipulated period of nikaah in order to satisfy their sexual desires and thereafter separate, then this is not a nikaah, rather it is the muta’h practised by the Shias. This type of arrangement is totally haraam in Islam. As long as they remain together, they both will be living in zina.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
