Whose responsibility is it to look after the children?

Q: Is child custody obligatory on the mother if she is still married to the husband? Or is it the husband’s duty to provide a nursemaid? What if the husband is poor?

A: Both the parents need to look after the children. Custody is to both of them.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
