Performing witr salaah at the time of tahajjud

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I usually read my witr salaah at the time of tahajjud, after the tahajjud salaah. However, sometimes by the time I finish my witr the fajr time has set in. Will this be regarded as qadha? Will I have to repeat it? Will it be better for me to read the witr before sleeping?

A: If you performed the witr after the time of fajr set in, it will be regarded as qadha. However if you commence the witr before the time of fajr and completed the salaah after the time had set in, the salaah will discharged and it will not be regarded as qadha.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
