Method of acquiring kushoo’ in Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

  1. In my namaz whenever something comes in my mind, even if I try to regain my concentration I forget what I read, in which rakaat I am and many other similar things. What should I do?
  2. When I make sajdah, I am not satisfied and I push my head too hard. I want to know the correct way of making sajda. How much pressure is requried? Where exactly should the floor touch the nose and forehead? Anywhere or some precise position is required?

A:

  1. One easy method to acquire khushoo’ in Salaah is that you should absorb your mind in this thought that you are standing before Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) and Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) the Almighty is watching every action of yours. If possible you should learn the meaning of the Surahs you generally recite in your Salaah and at the time of recitation reflect over its meaning.
  2. In sajdah, the forehead and nose will have to touch the ground. If the forehead is firmly placed on the ground, the sajdah will be valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
