Is a breast feeding mother absolved from fasting?

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am a lactating mother and feeding my child. My daughter is 1 year old. I heard that when mothers are feeding their children they are free from the Farz of roza (fast), is it true? If temporarily mothers are free then is there any Qaza of these rozas (fasts) after lactation or permanently lactating mothers are free?

A: If they encounter difficulty they could miss out the roza and do it later.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
