Tatooing one’s body with mendhi

Q: I have heard lately from a lot of my male friends of men and women who are tatooing their bodies with mendhi. Is this permissible?

A: Apart from dyeing the hair, it is not permissible for men to apply mehndi on their palms or limbs except for medical reasons. As far as women are concerned, though they are allowed to apply mehndi on their hair, palms, hand and feet, it is impermissible for them to emulate the ways of the kuffar through tattooing their bodies with mehndi.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
