Doing accounting for a firm in the lottery department

Q: I work for a chattered accounting company in British Columbia , Canada. There are various departments in our company and they provide accounting services to various companies. I work as a data entry person who enters data (information about people and their address ) and I work in the lottery department. Our company does not sell or deal with lottery selling we just deal with the accounting and tallying and hand over it to the foundation or clients. My job is just as office duties and entering data which prepares for the lottery for the clients. I am no where involved in selling or promoting the lottery.

Is my job haram? Please help me because my mother in law who has issues with me is telling our family members that my income is haram.

A: Excuse yourself from the lottery or anything else that will promote sin. Apart from that, all the halaal jobs that you are doing are permissible.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
