Calling oneself a Deobandi

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I follow the Ulama of Deoband but I wanted to know whether it is allowed to label oneself as a ‘Deobandi’ because I feel like these terms and labels cause unnecessary division in the Ummah.

Bismillaah

A: You do not need to label yourself. The more important thing is to follow the school of thought.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
