Drinking fermented honey

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. A person had raw honey that began bubbling and smelling fermented. Can it be used? Because I read that people make a drink from it.

2. A drink called ‘mead’ is made from this fermented honey. Would this be permissible?

Bismillaah

A: It is permissible as long as it has got no intoxicating effect.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
