Building an “events planning” website

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: We are planning to build a website through which anyone can plan events like weddings, parties, programs etc. The website is completely based on event planning. Actually, this website is for both Muslims and non-Muslims, so we also need to include some non Islamic activities providing clients like entertainment service, dance groups, dj’s, photography for weddings, etc. booking services in this website. Is it permissible for us to include those clients in our website and taking money from them as they use our website. We dont have any direct involvement in those activities as we only acts as a mediator, the customer who visits this website can book any services as their wish… We charge some amount from the clients in this website as per the booking (commission) .There are other services like catering, hall booking, mehendi designers, boutique designers, wedding cards developers, travelling services, light and sound services, stage decorators etc. in the same website. For example: I have a building (that is website) and the question is that… is it permissible to give for rent to dance groups, dj’s, photography studio, etc as their office?

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
