Believing a non-Muslim with regards to halaal food

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: We live in America and there are some restaurants whose owners are Agha Khani’s. They sell meet products and say that they sell only halal meat. We believe that they buy halal meat but is it permissible to eat from their restaurants? We are not sure if the food is cooked by a Muslim or Agha Khani or Hindu.

Bismillaah

A: They are not Muslims. Hence do not take their word in matters of halaal and haraam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
