Saying “In the name of Jesus” constitutes shirk

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A friend of mine said “in the name of Jesus” before eating. I told him it’s shirk and he asked for any prooof from the Hadith or a verse or chapter from the Qur’an which honestly I don’t know. I need help on this because not only him, there are some Muslims around me that make the same mistakes using someone’s name other than Allah when doing things.

Bismillaah

A: All these are shirk.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
