Q:
1. Can one reserve a specific place for someone in the musjid? Will the ruling be different if one reserves a place for a senior person?
2. If one sees a place or has a place reserved for him in the first saff, is it permissible for him to squeeze through the saffs or jump over the shoulders of the musallees to get to that place?
A:
1. No.
The hadeeth encourages us that those who have sound deeni understanding and virtue should be closest to the imaam. Hence, if the senior person is made to stand closer to the imaam on account of his high deeni understanding and virtue it will not go against the teaching of this hadeeth.
2. He may do so without disturbing anybody and without crossing in front of the saffs.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
ويكره … وتخصيص مكان لنفسه وليس له إزعاج غيره منه ولو مدرسا
قال الشامي : قوله ( وتخصيص مكان لنفسه ) لأنه يخل بالخشوع كذا في القنية أي لأنه إذا اعتاده ثم صلى في غيره يبقى باله مشغولا بالأول بخلاف ما إذا لم يألف مكانا معينا قوله ( وليس له الخ ) قال في القنية له في المسجد موضع معين يواظب عليه وقد شغله غيره قال الأوزاعي له أن يزعجه وليس له ذلك عندنا اه أي لأن المسجد ليس ملكا لأحد بحر عن النهاية قلت وينبغي تقييده بما إذا لم يقم عنه على نية العود بلا مهلة كما لو قام للوضوء مثلا ولا سيما إذا وضع فيه ثوبه لتحقق سبق يده تأمل (رد المحتار 1/ 662)
عن عبد الله بن مسعود قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ليلني منكم أولو الأحلام والنهى ثم الذين يلونهم ثلاثا وإياكم وهيشات الأسواق (صحيح مسلم #432)
