Standing and putting on shoes

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In Riyad us Saliheen, hadith number 1651 it states that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) forbade a person wearing (tying up his shoe while standing. [Abu Dawud with a good Isnad]. My question is, can we still stand up and wear our shoes?

Bismillaah

A: If there is no fear of you falling or hurting yourself it is permissible.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
