Placing of Female’s Hair in Kafan

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

Dear Mufti Sahib,

Kindly explain the Hikmah (wisdom) between the difference of women who are from the Asian, European and other similar who have long hair and women who are of African, Caribbean origin and have short hair. Is it not true that women have to have their chests covered  at the time of death. How do women, who been created with short hair do this?

Wassalaam

Answer:

It is not compulsory to place the hair over the chest, since the object of covering it is easily acquired by using the Kafan. There is no harm whatsoever if a lady who passes away has short hair, as the Kafan not only covers the chest, but the entire body.

The wisdom as to why certain women are created with short hair while others have long hair is not known.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
