Leather Socks and a Flowing Wound

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

1.  There is a wound on my leg and pus is coming out of the wound constantly.  Do I have to change the blooded cloth which is on the wound each I do Wudhu and pray Salaat?

2.  I have got leather socks on.  Can I make Masah on the leather socks in the above situation or do I have to remove the socks and wash my feet each time I do Wudhu?  Please reply as soon as possible so that I know what to do.

Jazakallah

Wassalaam

Answer:

  1. Answered in Fatwaa no. 88/04

  1. If the flowing of the blood or pus stopped while making Wudhu and wearing the leather socks then one will not have to remove the leather socks and wash the feet each time one makes Wudhu until the period of Masah expires (one day and one night for the Muqeem and three days and three nights for the Musaafir).  On the contrary, if the blood or pus did not stop flowing while making Wudhu and wearing the leather socks then one will only be permitted to make Masah on the socks until the Salaah time expires, he will have to remove the socks and wash his feet when the next Salaah time sets in and so on.  (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 1, Page 198)
