Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

slmz.

my  son  travelled  to  Saudi  Arabia  on  hajj  this  year,  his  intention  from  back  home  was  walking  HAJJ,  ONE  OF  THE  MANY  REASONS  OR  MAIN  REASON  70 000  TIMES  MORE  REWARD,  IS  THIS  CORRECT???

ON  HIS  RETURN  HE  INFORMED  ME  THAT  ONE  OF  THE  LECTURES  HE  ATTENDED  IN  SAUDI  BY  AK  HOOSEIN  WAS  THAT  THE  REWARDS  ARE  NO  DIFFERENT  BECAUSE  OF  THE  MONEY  ONE  PAYS  FOR  THE  TRANSPORT  AND  THIS  MONEY  WAS  EARNED..

PLEASE   RECTIFY   THIS   AS  WE  ARE  IN  A  DOUBT.

Answer:

A Hadith narrated by Ibne Abbas (R.A.) states that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said that the Hajji travelling on a conveyance is rewarded seventy rewards on each step the conveyance (animal) takes and a walking Hajji will be rewarded seven hundred rewards of the Haram for every step he takes and each reward of the Haram is equal to a hundred thousand rewards.  (Jam’ul Fawaaid, Vol. 2, Page 40, Mu’allimul Hujjaj, Page 23)

Similarly ‘Allamah Shaami (R.A.A.) states that walking Hajj is more virtuous than performing Hajj on a conveyance.  (Raddul Muhtaar, Vol. 2, Page 155)
