We have read in books that he ﷺ was born on 12th of Rabiul Awwal. Is it correct?

Assalamu Alaikum
Sir I want to ask you on which day the birth of Rasool e Akram Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam did take place? Some people’s saying is that he was born on 8 Rabi ul Awwal and we have read in books that he was born on 12th. I need proper information. Please help me.

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

The blessed birth of Rasoolullahi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam took place on a Monday. However the early difference of opinions about the date of birth still continues. According to one opinion it is 8th Rabi’ul Awwal, and another opinion is 10th Rabi’ul Awwal whereas according to the famous opinion the blessed birth of Nabi Sallalahu Alaihi wa Sallam had taken place on the 12th of Rabi’ul Awwal. But the preferred opinion among the majority of the commentators of Hadees (Muhaddiseen) and historians is 8th Rabi’ul Awwal. The same opinion is narrated from Hadhrath Abdullah bin Abbas and Hadhrath Jubair bin Muth’im Radhiyallahu Anhum and the same opinion is selected by Allama Qutubuddeen Qasthalaani Rahimahullah (Seerathul Musthafa vol 1)

Allah knows best.
