Botox Injections

Question

I suffer from migraines since many years. A neurologist has advised to use oral medication and Botox injections. I chose the tablets because I did not really want to get Botox and was not sure about the ruling in Islam, because when it comes to appearance, we should not change it. However, the neurologist said if the tablets do not work, the injections would be my next step. Would Botox injections be permissible for me on medical grounds?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Answer

Using Botox injections on medical grounds is excused for you if there is no other alternative. We understand that they have side effects, so medical professionals should be consulted before using them.
