Who is the likeliest to receive intercession from Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

Narrated Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu): I said: “O Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)! Who will be the luckiest person, who will gain your intercession on the Day of Qiyamah?” Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: O Abu Hurayrah! ‘I have thought that none will ask me about it before you as I know your longing for the [learning of] Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Qiyamah will be the one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’ [La ilaha illallah].’”

Is this Hadith authentic and if so which number as a reference is correct for this Hadith?

Answer

Yes, it is authentic indeed, as Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in his Sahih. He has actually cited it twice in his book.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 99 and 6570)
