Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) explains what causes disgrace

Question:

Kindly provide the reference and Arabic text for this:

Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) was asked, “What makes a man lose his honour? He replied, ‘Talking too much, exposing people’s secrets and placing [hopes] and trust in every single person.’” (Ibn ‘Abdil Barr)

Answer:

Imam Ibn ‘Abdil Barr (rahimahullah) has cited this narration in Al Intiqa.

Arabic text

وسئل (الشافعي) أي الأشياء أوضع للرجال؟ فقال: كثرة الكلام وإذاعة السر والثقة بكل أحد
