The du’a of ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) asking for martyrdom in Madinah Munawwarah

Please authenticate the following du’a for me:

Answer

This is actually the du’a of Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) recorded by Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah). It is therefore authentic.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1890)

Translation

O Allah! Bless me with martyrdom in Your path and make my death in the City of Your Messenger (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
