Shaytan’s promise to misguide and Allah’s promise to forgive

What is authenticity of this?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

Shaytan said to His Rabb, “By Your Majesty O Rabb! I will continue to misguide your servants as long as their souls are in their bodies.” Allah Ta’ala replied,”By My Honour and Grandeur, I will continue to forgive them as long as they seek forgiveness.”

Answer

Imams Ahmad, Abu Ya’la and Hakim (rahimahumullah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Al Khudri (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 29 and pg. 76, Musnad Abu Ya’la, Hadith: 1273 and 1399, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 261)

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic and ‘Allamah Dhahabi concurs. ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators of one chain of Musnad Ahmad and Abu Ya’la reliable.

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 207)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
