Meaning of a statement of Mu’awiyah ibn Qurrah regarding Nabi’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) recital of Surah Fath

What is the meaning of the following

قال معاوية: لولا أني أخاف أن يجتمع علي الناس لحكيت لكم قراءته

(Sahih Muslim)

Answer

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Al Mughaffal (radiyallahu ‘anhu) described Nabi’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) recital of Surah Fath on the event of the Conquest of Makkah/en route to Makkah.

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 794)

Mu’awiyah ibn Qurrah (rahimahullah) has reported this Hadith from Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Al Mughaffal (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The meaning of the part in question is as follows:

Mu’awiyah [ibn Qurrah] (rahimahullah) said, ‘If I were not afraid that the people would gather/crowd around me, I would have given a practical demonstration of ‘Abdullah ibn Al Mughaffal’s recitation [where he demonstrated Nabi’s sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam recital].

(Fathul Mulhim, Hadith: 1820)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
