Do not hope for Jannah without carrying out good deeds and do not delay in repenting

Is this narration authentic?

A pious worshipper said to his son, “O son don’t be like those who hope for Jannah but don’t carry out any [good] deeds and delay repentance hoping to live long.”

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as the statement of Wahb ibn Munabbih (rahimahullah), a Tabi’i .

The narration is suitable to quote as reported.
