Concealing hunger and not disclosing one’s needs

Is this Hadith reliable?

من جاع أو احتاج فكتمه الناس كان حقا على الله عز وجل أن يرزقه رزق سنة من حلال

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded a similar narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 9581, Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 2379 and Al Mu’jamus Saghir, Hadith: 214)

Although the chain is weak, the Hadith is suitable to quote. ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has also cited corroborating narrations.

(Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 256, Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 2 pg. 131, Targhib, vol. 1 pg. 593)

Translation

Whoever is hungry or has some need but conceals it, Allah Ta’ala will provide for him halal sustenance for an entire year.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
