Ruling on good deeds done before Islam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

When a person accepts Islam, what happens to all the good deeds he did before Islam?

Answer

If a person carried out good deeds before Islam and thereafter accepted Islam and passed away as a Muslim, he will be rewarded for all the good deeds that he performed before accepting Islam as well. This is how the Hadith Masters have explained the famous Hadith of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim on this matter.
