No one is better than anyone else except through religion or good deeds.

Can you provide the reference for this narration?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“No one is better than anyone else except by religion or good deeds. It is enough [to regard a person] evil if he is profane, vulgar, greedy or cowardly”

Answer

Imams Ahmad and Bayhaqi (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 145, Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 4782)
