Beautifying one’s Salah due to onlookers is hidden shirk

Is this Hadith authentic?

Answer

Imam Ibn Khuzaymah (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Mahmud ibn Labid (radiyallahu ‘anhu) and has declared it authentic.

(Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith: 937)

Translation

Once Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) came out and said, “O people! Beware of hidden/subtle shirk.’ They asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is hidden shirk?’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘A person stands up to offer two rak’ahs of Salah, and strives to beautify as he sees people looking at him, this is hidden shirk.’”

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded a similar Hadith. See here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
