Luqman Al Hakim advises his son on patience

Is this advice of Luqman Al Hakim authentic?

عن قتادة قال قال لقمان لابنه يا بني إن الصبر على المكاره من حسن اليقين وإن لكل عمل كمالا وغاية وكمال العبادة الورع واليقين

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration.

(Kitabul Yaqin, 14)

However, the chain consists of a narrator who has reported fabrications.

(Refer: Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 2 pg. 20, number: 2527)

Translation

Luqman Al Hakim told his son, “O My beloved son! Exercising patience upon difficulties is part of having good conviction [in Allah]. Every deed/action has a point of perfection and completion and the point of perfection for ‘ibadah is piety and conviction [in Allah].”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
