A Prophetic tradition says: “Time will come when people will kill without knowing the motivation, and the victim will be unaware of the reason for their execution. What is the grade of this Hadith?
Answer
Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded the following narration in his Sahih. The narration is therefore authentic:
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“By Him in Whose Hand is my life, a time would come when the murderer would not know why he has murdered and the victim would not know why he has been killed [due to wars]”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2908)
