Accepting the concession that Allah Ta’ala grants

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is this Hadith sahih?

إن الله يحب أن تُؤتى رخصه كما يُحبُّ أن تُؤتى عزائمه

Answer

This Hadith is recorded by Imams Bazzar, Tabarani and others on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhuma)

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared it as authentic (sahih).

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) had graded the chain of Bazzar as sound (hasan), and Hafiz Haythami (rahimahullah) has stated that all its narrators are reliable.

(Kashful Astar, Hadith: 990, Al-Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 11880, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al-Ihsan, Hadith: 354. Also refer to Targhib, Hadith: 1571 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 3 pg. 162)

Translation

Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu’anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:

‘Indeed Allah loves that His concessions be practiced [by whom they apply to] like He loves his resolute (uncompromising) commands be practiced [by whom they apply to].’

See other similar narrations in the above mentioned sources as well.

These Hadiths encourage people to accept the concessions that Allah Ta’ala grants us, and not to be too strict on oneself, as this may lead to being overburdened.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
