Allah Ta’ala does not look mercifully at those who sever ties

Is this Hadith authentic?

Answer

Imam Tabarani, Imam Hakim and other Muhaddithun have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has graded the chain sound (hasan).

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 161, Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 12556, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg. 152)

Translation

Allah Ta’ala fills a nation’s homes/grants them long lives and makes their wealth profitable but does not look at them [with mercy] since he created them. Someone asked, ‘And why is that O Rasulullah?’ He replied, ‘Due to them severing ties’

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

This Hadith illustrates that abundance of wealth is not necessarily a sign of Allah Ta’ala being  pleased with an individual.
