I would like to know if the following Hadith is authentic?
تصافحوا يذهب الغل، وتهادوا تحابوا، وتذهب الشحناء
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “Shake hands and rancour will disappear. Give gifts to each other, you will love each other and enmity will disappear.”
Answer
Imam Malik (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith. [mursalan/mu’dalan]. Imam Ibn ‘Abdil Barr (rahimahullah) states that this narration has been reported through various other sound continuous chains. The Hadith in question is suitable to quote.
(Muwatta Imam Malik with Awjazul Masalik, Hadith: 1624 and At Tamhid, vol. 15 pg. 85)
