Explanation of the Hadith: ‘Every caller will be held to his call on the Day of Qiyamah’

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

Kindly explain the following Hadith; does it mean that if ‘Ulama and du’at (those who invite to Allah Ta’ala) invited fussaq and fujjar to the path of din, then they will be gathered with them on the day of Qiyamah?

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The one who would invite people towards anything [or deed, good or bad] in the world, on the day of Qiyamah will remain firmly joined to those people whom he would invite, even though a person had invited just one person [he will still be made to stand with that person]”

Answer

The correct translation of the bold portion is as follows:

‘…on the day of Qiyamah he will be attached/joined to his claim/slogan [to which he invited]. Even if a man invited only one other person. [then too he will be held to the slogan to which he invited].

See here for the reference and authenticity of this Hadith.

This Hadith is actually to caution people against inviting others to wrong, and to encourage them to rather invite people to good, since they will be held to their slogans in the Hereafter.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
