Is the following narration authentic?
“Do not envy a sinner for some bounty that he has been blessed with, for verily you do not know what punishment he is going to receive after death, he will have a killer [Jahannam] but will not die”
Answer
Imam Tabarani, Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahumallah) and others have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu). ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of narrators weak.
(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4079. Refer: Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 1980)
However, this Hadith has also been reported through other chains with variation in the wording. The narration in question is therefore corroborated and is suitable to quote.
