An unauthentic virtue of consuming honey

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once said:

“Eat honey. By Him in whose hand is my soul, the Angels seek forgiveness on behalf of the household that has honey. If a person drinks honey, a thousand remedies enter his stomach and a thousand diseases will come out. If a man dies and has honey in his belly, the fire will not touch his body.”

Is this authentic?

Answer

The Muhaddithun have declared this Hadith a fabrication. The Hadith should therefore not be quoted.

(Refer: Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 2 pg. 239 and Tadhkiratul Mawdu’at of ‘Allamah Muhammad Tahir Al Fatani, pg. 150)

There are numerous authentic benefits of honey, which are recorded in the Quran as well as  reported from Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) which should be quoted instead.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
