Juma in a musalla

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa.org.au
Respected mufti sahib, I live in a town where there is a musalla in which five daily salaah does not take place. Can we perform Jum’a salaah at this musallah. The closest masjid is about half an hour’s drive away. Jazakallah.

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

In principle, it is not a requirement for the validity of Jum’ah salaat that it is performed at a place where the five times daily salaat takes place. It is, however, a requirement for the validity of Jum’ah salaat that it is performed in a town or city (the signs of which change according to time and location), that it is performed with full permission for all to attend, that khutbah is delivered before the salaat, that the minimum number of the congregation for the salaat should be four including the imam, etc.

Therefore, if all the requirements for the validity of Jum’ah salaat are found, then performing the Jum’ah salaat in the musalla will be valid and permissible, otherwise not.
