Combining two salats due to rain

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwa.org.au
_ I went to a mosque for Maghrib while it was raining. As soon as the imam ended the prayer with salam, they called iqamah for Isha even though it was only 8.50. They said that it is ok to combine Isha when it is raining because the musallis cannot come back for Isha. Is it allowed in islam to combine two salaats if it is raining?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

_ According to the Hanafi madhab (school), it is not permissible to combine two salats together due to rain. Some other madhabs permit it with conditions. (See: Al-Fiqh Alaa al-Mazaahib al-Arba’a: 1/ 406)

A follower of the Hanafi madhab should not combine two salats together even if other people of his masjid do so.

And Allah knows best.
