Can I Use a Shampoo With Pork Ingredients if I’m a Muslim?

Answered by: Mufti Muhammad Asadullah Anwar Adam

Question:

Can I use a shampoo with pork ingredients if I’m a Muslim?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It should be avoided. The Sharia has considered all parts of a pig as essentially impure [najis al-‘ayn] and it cannot be purified in any way.

Say, “I do not find within that which was revealed to me [anything] forbidden to one who would eat it unless it is a dead animal or blood spilled out or the flesh of swine – for indeed, it is impure – or it is [that slaughtered in] disobedience, dedicated to other than Allah” [1]
