If Someone Forgets That Nasal Drops Break the Fast and Remembers After Using Them

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

If someone forgets that nasal drops break the fast and remembers after using them, does it break their fast? Note that the issue was not that they did not forget that they were fasting, rather they forgot that this is one of the mufaṭṭirāt.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The usage of nasal drops will invalidate the fast whether done intentionally, by accident or forgetfully. However, if it was done by mistake as you have mentioned then you will only need to make up one Qadha for that fast rather than Kaffarah.
