Is It OK To Ask Christian People To Pray for Health?

Question:

Is it ok to ask Christian people to pray for health?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Allah says in Quran:

Those who disbelieved, and prevented (others) from Allah’s way, He (Allah) has rendered their deeds vain. i

So, keeping in view the above verse, if you ask non-Muslims to do dua for you it will be in vain as their deeds are in vain.

The much better approach will be that we should make dua for them and pray that Allah forgives them and guides them to the truth.

It is narrated from ‘Abdullah:

“It is as if I can see the Messenger of Allah telling us the story of one of the Prophets: ‘His people beat him, and he was wiping the blood from his face and saying: “O Lord forgive my people, for they do not know.’ ii

In short, we should not ask non-Muslims to pray for us rather we should pray for their guidance.

Only Allah knows best.
